Nashville Work Injury Attorney
Addressing Your Concerns About Medical Treatment
If you have suffered a workplace injury, it is important for you to get medical treatment that is consistent with the rules of the workers' compensation system. Under those rules, you will have to be evaluated by a doctor on your employer's workers' comp panel.
At The Law Offices of James Flexer, we help clients address concerns about and disputes with workers' comp doctors. Contact us today to schedule a free consultation. We have offices in Nashville, Murfreesboro and Columbia, and you will pay us nothing unless we are successful.
Understanding the Rules of the Workers' Compensation System
In order to obtain workers' compensation medical benefits, you will need to choose a doctor from a panel of three offered by your employer. That doctor will then evaluate your injuries and recommend the medical treatment that he or she believes is appropriate.
If you disagree with the recommendations made by the doctor chosen by your employer, you should contact your lawyer to discuss your options.
The three doctors on the workers' comp panel need to be within a reasonable distance of your home, and they cannot be associated together in practice. If you report a back injury, your employer must also offer you the option of going to a chiropractor.
If you go to your family doctor — or if you go to the emergency room without being sent there by your employer — workers' compensation will probably not pay your bills, and your health insurance may not pay for your treatment for a work-related injury.
Offering Advice and Representation Based on Experience
The attorneys at our law firm are familiar with the vast majority of doctors that end up on workers' compensation panels in Middle Tennessee and may be able to offer you valuable advice on your choice of a doctor from your employer's chosen panel.
If you have a dispute with your doctor over your injuries or treatment, we can help. Based on what is best in your case, we can pursue an independent medical evaluation, have you examined by a doctor on the state's medical impairment registry, or seek a new panel.
Don't hesitate to contact us to discuss any concerns you have about seeing a workers' compensation doctor.
