Failed a Breath or Blood Test? Call an Attorney Today.

DUI — known in some other states as driving while intoxicated (DWI) — is a criminal charge that can result in jail time, license suspension and other serious consequences.

Tennessee has an implied consent law, which means that if you obtain a driver's license and drive on public roads within the state, you have consented in advance to taking a blood or breath test for alcohol or drugs if the police stop you and ask you to take one.

If you refuse the test, you will automatically and immediately lose your driver's license for a year. If you test over the limit, you will be charged with DUI, but you will not lose your license right away.

If you are stopped on suspicion of drunk driving and asked to take a test, from our experience, it is usually best that you take the test. If you are charged with DUI, you have a right to hire a lawyer to defend you against the charges and possibly save your driver's license from suspension or revocation.

Exploring All of Your DUI Defense Options

There are several things the lawyers at our firm are able to do to defend clients against DUI charges. We will usually request a preliminary hearing to determine whether there was probable cause for your traffic stop. If not, the charges against you may be thrown out.

If we are not successful at the preliminary hearing, we will explore potential defenses, as well as options such as getting your charges reduced to reckless driving. Our goals will be to preserve your license, keep you out of jail and keep the DUI off your record.

Don't hesitate to contact us to discuss your drunk driving charges with an experienced Tennessee DUI defense lawyer.
